Dine With U of M Professors on March 27 for "Great Conversations"

The dinner table conversation will range from politics to religion to sex when University of Memphis professors engage their fellow diners in discussions of those hot topics and others of similar interest during the U of M College of Arts and Sciences' “Great Conversations" dinner March 27 at the Holiday Inn on the U of M campus.

The evening will begin with a buffet supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by dessert, coffee, and lively, entertaining conversation at 6:30 p.m.

During this seventh annual exchange of ideas, 22 professors have agreed to be hosts to guests who register to sit at their tables and discuss such issues as living “green" in Memphis, global warming, Dante's place in English culture, Chinese-American interaction, and safety in cyberspace. As for the “big three" mentioned above, there will be a “mapping red, black, and white in America," “a genealogy of jihadist Muslim terrorism," plus “the paradox of gender and power in American politics" and “girl power."

A full list of topics is available online at the Great Conversations web site at cas.memphis.edu/conversations/. The final list of topics presented that evening will depend on the number of people requesting reservations for subjects.

The cost is $75 per person for the general public. For members of the U of M Alumni Association or the University of Memphis Association of Retirees, the cost is $65.
