The Memphis Ghana Study Abroad Program introduces students to the long history and
rich cultures of Ghana through an intensive, interdisciplinary study and travel abroad
experience in the West African nation.
Students in the program enroll in AAAS 4351, "Ghanaian History and Cultures," a three
credit course taught by Dr. Dennis Laumann, the program director.
The program consists of three weeks of lectures, discussion sessions, and guided visits
to historic and cultural sites in Ghana. Guest lectures are presented by faculty from
the University of Ghana at the Institute of African Studies while discussion sessions
and guided visits are led by the program director.
