The Costa Rican Study Tour engages students in learning about agricultural practices,
sustainability, traditional foods, and the health and wellness practices of both the
indigenous and urban Costa Ricans. Students travel by canoe to the Bribri village
to learn about their traditional healing and lifestyle practices. Individualized tours
with bilingual guides to organic farms, plantations, and markets throughout the country
expose students to the rich agricultural processes: coffee, sugar, pineapple, avocado,
pejibaye, banana, cocoa, tropical fruits, and fish. Hiking in the rainforest, cloud
forest, and along the Pacific and Caribbean coasts exposes students to the ecological
balance of nature in this unique country. Students visit medical and rehab centers,
spas, and natural hot springs to learn about the relationships between food, mind,
body, and spirit. A learning adventure of a lifetime!
