Please follow the instructions below to apply for a study abroad program. If you have
any questions during the process, please contact the Study Abroad Office for assistance.
1. Find your Study Abroad Program Page
Click "Find a Program" under the "Programs" link. On the program finder page, you
may search for programs by their location, courses offered, or other criteria. You
may also click "List All" to browse all of the programs offered. Once on your chosen
study abroad program page, click on the "Apply Now" link. Follow the instructions
to create your own personal application homepage by logging in with your University
of Memphis log-in and password. NOTE: For all programs except faculty-led, it is required
to meet with the study abroad advisor. Once you have met with the advisor, you will
be cleared to continue on with the application process.
2. Begin the Application
On your application homepage, you will see a checklist of everything you need to do.
There are four types of documents: material submissions, signature documents, questionnaires,
and learning assessments. Please click on each document for instructions. You must
read and follow all instructions carefully and in a timely manner. Most of the application
process can be done online at your convenience, but hard copies of some materials
must be submitted to the Study Abroad Office. You will also be asked to scan and upload
several documents during the application process. The library and computer lab of
the University Center have several scanners available for student use. If you need
help scanning, please come to the Study Abroad Office for assistance. There will also
be a tutorial with your application materials. If we are missing any parts of your
application, you will receive regular e-mail reminders starting a few weeks before
the application deadlines. Watch for these reminders that will come from tigersabroad@memphis.edu. NOTE: Application deadlines are firm and you must submit all application pieces in order for your application to be reviewed.
To see if you have submitted all necessary documents, review the checklist on your
homepage.
3. Log-in and Check for Updates
After you have started the application, you can check your application homepage at
anytime. Remember to check your U of M e-mail on a regular basis for reminders of
items that you have not yet submitted. You will receive your decision notification
through e-mail on the decision date listed on your study abroad program page.
4. Commit to Your Program
After you have been accepted, you will have to commit to your program. You will be
notified in your acceptance letter of the commitment deadline. After committing, you
will be required to submit additional post-acceptance materials. Only after you have
submitted these materials will you be eligible to study abroad on your chosen program.
