Palazzi Semester

Application Process: In addition to completing the University of Memphis application, students should also complete the Palazzi application, available for download here and pay the $350 application fee online.

Program Description: Palazzi is a group of academic, interdisciplinary institutions located in the historical center of Florence, Italy. All of the educational institutions belonging to Palazzi are cross-disciplinary and interrelated; students have open access to all curricula and program offerings for a truly wide-reaching choice of areas to study.The main schools of our institutions address liberal and studio arts, business, fashion and accessory design, hospitality management, culinary arts, food communications and publishing, digital and visual media and imaging, and contemporary Italian language studies.

The foundations of the institutions that constitute Palazzi are based on the following core concepts:

  • Cross-cultural and interdisciplinary learning for students through their direct interaction with the academic and social fabrics of our institutions and the city of Florence

  • The promotion of student extracurricular life through volunteer and community service opportunities, the Student Services and Academic Field Trips departments, and integration projects at Ganzo Cultural and Gastronomic Association.

Important Information

Program Fees and Refund Policy: The program fee is $8,910* or $17,350* depending on your term abroad.The program fee includes tuition, accommodations, student ID card and application fee.The program fees do not include international travel, medical insurance or personal expenses. A non-refundable deposit of $350 is due by March 1, 2010 to secure your place for fall semester or academic year programs and October 1, 2010 for spring semester programs. Please submit you payment to the Study Abroad Office located at 102 Brister Hall. If you are a U of M student, you can pay the deposit online here.

Fees with the exception of the deposit will be refunded in full if notification is received 90 days before the program start date. Withdrawals up to 45 days prior to the program will incur a charge of $500. Withdrawals up to 20 days before the program will incur a charge of 50% of the program fees. All other withdrawals within 20 days or less will incur a charge of 75% of the program fees. In addition to these fees any unrecoverable expenses will be billed to the student. Cancellations should be in writing and are only effective upon date of receipt of written notification. Should the University decide to cancel the program, there will be a full refund of all fees paid.
