Study Spanish in Salamanca

Program Cost: $2,250.00*
The host university for the program is Universidad Pontificia de Salamanca (UPSA). Salamanca is a college town with more than 40,000 university students. The streets of Salamanca are full of culture carved in stone, like the house of shells (la Casa de la Conchas), the Cathedrals or the Main Square (la Plaza Mayor). The city of Salamanca has been designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO. In addition to classes, students will be able to participate in a series of activities organized by the language institute at UPSA.
Courses: Students may earn 6 credit hours by enrolling in intensive Spanish courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced level. Classes will be held daily from 9:00 to 1:00pm. A language lab will be available to students two days a week in the afternoons after class.
Housing: Students will be placed with host families in single or double occupancy rooms with two meals a day and laundry.
*Program Cost: The fee is $2250 and includes: tuition, teaching materials, $350 application fee, housing, meals, field trip and cultural activities.
The program fee does not include roundtrip airfare, medical insurance and personal expenses. The program cost will be adjusted to $2,050 if there are more than 15 participants. Program price is subject to change.
Application Deadline: The deadline to apply is March 15, 2009. Applications submitted after March 15th will be accepted only if there are available spots. In addition to the regular study abroad application, students should complete this application for UPSA.
Refund Policy and Cancellations: Students will receive a full refund of the program fees with the exception of the $350 deposit if withdrawals are made 14 days before the program start date. Withdrawals made 7 days before the program start date will incur a 90% refund in addition to the non-refundable deposit. Cancellations should be in writing and are only effective on the date received.
Scholarships: Scholarships are available for University of Memphis students through the Study Abroad Office, 102 Brister Hall. Applications may be obtained at that office or downloaded at http://www.memphis.edu/abroad/scholarships.php.
