Services for Pre Transfer Students / Applicants
Transfer Center The Transfer Center located in the Center for Academic Transition works primarily with students from Tennessee Board of Regents community colleges who are interested in transferring to the University of Memphis. Services include individual academic counseling, applicant follow-up, and serve as a point of contact for counselors and staff at community college.
Transition Thursdays Pre transfer students get the answers to transfer questions and more on the first at 1:00 PM and third Thursday at 1:30 PM of each month until 4:00 PM during Transition Tuesdays Program at Wilder Tower, Room 101. Representatives from the Office of Academic Transfer and Articulation will be available to answer any other questions prospective students might have. After the tour, Advisors in undergraduate academic services will be available for a brief advising session to help with your academic plans. Students may bring an unofficial copy of their transcript for each college attended. The adviser will not be able to do an evaluation of all transfer credits, but will be able to look over the record and perhaps recommend courses to take before you transfer. The advisers in Undergraduate Academic Services are familiar with the admission and graduation requirements of all U of M majors and can help students consider options. Articulation Process A strong commitment to articulation exists between the University of Memphis and all Tennessee Board of Regents Community Colleges. Articulation provides definitive information regarding major preparation and graduation requirements at the TBR community colleges, and transferable courses to the University of Memphis. This articulation is the basis of the transfer process.
Summer Advising New transfer students are offered academic advising and enrollment preparation and experience some aspects the University.
Southwest Tennessee Community College Advising Potential transfer students can meet with a Transfer Specialist on the Macon or Union campus each Tuesday to get advice about their transfer courses. They can call 901-333-4386 to make an appointment.
Community College Transfer Program The Coordinator of Transfer and Articulation visits local community colleges several times during the semester to provide assistance with academic advising. In addition, the Coordinator and Visitation Coordinator provide information about the application process and assist with scheduling campus tours and programs.
Pre Transfer Student Answers Pre-transfer students receive a quick response to their questions. Appointments are 15 minutes in duration and can be made by clicking on the following link: Pre Transfer Advising Appointment
Transfer Counseling Transfer students can make an appointment to meet with a Transfer Center staff member and receive advice about the admissions requirements, major preparation, and issues of specific interest to transfer students.
Services for Admitted / Enrolled Students
Transfer Center The Transfer Center, which is located in the Center For Academic Transition in Wilder Tower, provides transitional support services for new and continuing students and academic advising. The Center is the point of contact for new transfer students on the University's campus. This Center coordinates transfer student matters among the University's entire student services units and academic departments. The new program aims to make connections across the campus for transfer students, whether it is locating resources and services, or obtaining counseling and advice.
Degree Evaluation Program Provides quick information, assists with graduation clearance, provides easy reconstruction of progress toward degree, increases "quality advising time”, assists with record keeping and allows student / advisor to access to alternate majors and catalogs.
