I honestly chose the University of Memphis because it was far from home! It gave me a chance to be independent from my family, and has more than exceeded my expectations. I have become involved in projects and organizations that interest me, found a group of friends who will be lifelong, and explored a city that has a lot to offer. |

| Meet with Your Guidance Counselor |
 |
Throughout your sophomore, junior, and senior years of high school you will have several
issues arise that will require consultation with others. One of the most influential
persons you should periodically meet with is your high school guidance counselor.
Your guidance counselor will have resources available to assist with issues ranging
from college preparation while in high school to choosing the right college or university
after you graduate. The guidance provided can have a very positive effect on your
future. By meeting with your counselor, you are allowing him/her to get to know you
and therefore, enabling him/her to more effectively guide you into the educational
or work environment that will best meet your future expectations. Relying solely on
your own ability to research what you think is best, may not produce the results you
expect.
The University of Memphis has provided a dedicated web page with high school counselor resources online.
