The Advanced Learning Center researches learning practices as well as provides support to the campus community related to enhancing learning through the effective implementation of technology in the classroom. The center receives support from both Academic Affairs and the Information Technology Division.

Our mission is to support effective learning for the University of Memphis through the development of technology fluency, innovations in teaching, and research. We strive to accomplish these goals by providing a combination of support and services including:

• Presenting on topics related to effectively using technology in the classroom (locally and abroad)
• Providing individual and group consultations specifically geared towards meeting needs
• Conducting research on the usability of technology and environment in the classroom
• Providing technology support for university applications that support effective teaching, learning, and research
• Researching existing and new technologies that support effective teaching, learning, and research
• Collaborating with other departments, universities, and industry
• Participating in projects and programs that support effective teaching, learning, and research
