Call for Nominations
The Arts & Sciences Alumni Chapter is accepting nominations for its 2013 Outstanding
Alumni Awards. This award will be presented to a deserving Arts and Sciences graduate
at the Awards Dinner this November.
Nominees should be graduates who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their personal and professional activities, academic pursuits, research activities,
service to the University or community involvement. Deadline for submission of nominations is Friday, April 5.

Outstanding Alumni Awards The Arts & Sciences Alumni Chapter hosted its annual Outstanding Alumni Awards Dinner
in November to honor the 2012 award recipients: Dr. Paul Green (MS '66, PhD '70), Industrial-Organizational Psychologist and Best Selling Author, Dave Brown (BS '70), Chief Meteorologist, WMC-TV, and Dr. Karen Chancellor (BA '80, MS '80), Chief Medical Examiner, Shelby County, as well as Friend of the College Sean Lee (BBA '98), CEO of Porter Leath.
In 2011, the Chapter honored Dr. Diane Allen (BA '73), Provost, Salisbury University, Kirk Caraway (BA '94, JD '97), Partner, Allen, Summers, Lillie & Gresham, PLLC, Stacey Greenberg (MA '99), Community Relations, MLG&W, Founder, Memphis Rock & Romp, Darlene Winters (BA '76, MA '79), Founder/Choreographer, Company d Dancers and Friends of the College Carole and Emile Bizot (BA '60). Proceeds from the dinner support the Arts and Sciences Alumni Chapter Book Scholarship,
which is awarded each year to two outstanding junior or senior students. Please consider
making a donation to the Fund in honor of one of our current or past Outstanding Alumni
of Friends.
Centennial Reunion Weekend Events The Department of Anthropology hosted a weekend-long Alumni Reunion to celebrate the
35th Anniversary of our Master of Arts program and the University of Memphis Centennial,
on April 20-22. The reunion kicked off Friday evening, with a free wine and cheese
reception at Jack Robinson Gallery. Guests attended a free full day conference highlighting
the program’s history and the accomplishments of alumni and faculty on Saturday, followed
by a Moroccan-themed gala at the Peabody Skyway that evening. The reunion concluded
with a farewell picnic at Chucalissa on Sunday.
The Department of English celebrated the Centennial Anniversary of the U of M with
100 Years :: 100 Books on Friday, April 20. The program highlighted the literary history
of the Department and the books written by alumni and faculty.
The Pinch Release Party The Arts & Sciences Alumni Chapter celebrated the release of The Pinch's Fall 2011 issue in early November. The Pinch is the nationally-acclaimed and award-winning literary journal of the University of
Memphis Creative Writing MFA Program. Click here to learn more.
