Award and Scholarship News

The Herff College of Engineering Alumni Chapter is proud to announce that this year’s Outstanding Engineering Alumni Award will be presented to Ron Driggers. Dr. Driggers will be honored at the Engineering Awards Dinner on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the U of M Holiday Inn.

Through his leadership positions at NVESD, the Army Research Labs (ARL), and his current position at the Office of Naval Research (ONR), Dr. Driggers has helped direct numerous projects worth millions of dollars to the Herff College of Engineering. In the past three years, he has co-authored more than two dozen papers with professors at the university or university graduates and, therefore, underscored the value of the engineering program at the University of Memphis.

Dr. Driggers technical accomplishments include the development of a DoD standard model for predicting the performance of electro-optical sensors and the publication of several highly respected technical books and reference works. He is a prolific technical author with hundreds of journal publications and has served as an editor for two premier journals in optical science.

Upcoming Event

The Engineering Alumni Chapter will host an Alumni/Student Mixer on Tuesday, February 9 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Alumni Center. Students and Alumni will have a chance to network and mingle while everyone present can enjoy plenty of food and drink! Please join the chapter and take this opportunity to catch up with old acquaintances and connect with students and recent graduates. Engineering Annual Alumni Awards Dinner

The Herff College of Engineering Alumni Chapter hosted their annual Awards Dinner in early March at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis. The Chapter honored this year’s Outstanding Engineering Alumnus, Tom DeHart (B.S. ’68), in a celebration with alumni, friends and faculty of the College. Click here to view photos from that evening.

Student Alumni Mixer

The Herff College of Engineering Alumni Chapter would like to thank all of the alumni, students, and faculty that came out for its 3^rd Annual Student & Alumni Mixer on Tuesday, Jan. 29 at the Alumni Center. Over 50 guests were present to reconnect with friends and offer career advice to many of the graduating seniors that attended. Click here to view pictures.

Engineering Annual Alumni Awards Dinner

The Herff College of Engineering Alumni Chapter hosted their annual Alumni Awards dinner on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis. The Chapter honored Theopolis Holeman (BS '71) as an Outstanding Alumnus in a celebration with alumni, friends and faculty of the College.
