Alumni Reception in Chattanooga U of M Alumni in the Chattanooga area joined Tammy Hedges and Randal Rushing for a
reception in mid-April.
Music Society Mixer and Concert
Members met at Otherlands in late October to support Memphis' own bands "The Perfect
Vessels" (Alumnus Justin fox Burk's band) and "Vending Machine."
Music Society Mixer and Concert
World-renowned pianist and U of M professor, Victor Ascuncion, is performed the Poulenc
Two Piano Concerto with Adrienne Park and the Memphis Symphony Orchestra in mid November.
Members met before the performance for a pre-symphony gathering at Mollie Fontaine
Lounge.
Women in Jazz The Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music presented "Women in Jazz," a special performance
with the Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra featuring Joyce Cobb, in early October.
Music Alumni Happy Hour Members of the Music Society gathered at Jim's Place in early October for a Happy
Hour.
Music Society Jam Session The Music Society gathered in early May for a Jam Session at the Memphis Drum Shop. Gene Rush, professor emeritus of jazz and studio music at the University of Memphis, was presented

Jazz Education Network Conference in New Orleans The Music Society took the True Blue Bus to New Orleans in early January to celebrate
the work of our very own Dr. Jack Cooper and his Southern Comfort Jazz Orchestra at
the Second Annual Jazz Education Network Conference.
