First Tennessee True Blue 5K

Thank you for joining the Young Alumni Committee at the 2nd annual First Tennessee True Blue 5K on Friday, Nov. 21. The course began on Walker Ave. near Ellington Hall and continued throughout the beautiful University of Memphis campus, passing the Presidential Rose Garden, Clock Tower, University Center and many other parts of campus.  Participants were treated to a fall Pep Rally with the Mightily Sound of the South Marching Band and the U of M cheer and pom squads, followed by music by the Soul Outsiders.  Winners were congratulated with an awards ceremony immediately following.

2008 Summer Symposium: Step up to the Plate ...
The University of Memphis Young Alumni Committee hosted their 2008 Summer Symposium, Step up to the Plate …with featured speaker U of M Baseball Head Coach Daron Schoenrock, on Thursday, July 31 in the Alumni Center. Thanks to all who came out for a fun evening with “Coach Rock” and fellow young alumni!

First Tennessee True Blue 5k
The Young Alumni Committee hosted its inaugural First Tennessee True Blue 5K on Friday, November 16.  Over 250 alumni, students and Tiger supporters of all ages took part in the race, which wound through the U of M’s main campus, including sites such as the Presidential Rose Garden, the clock tower, the fountain courtyard and the FedEx Institute of Technology.  The evening of True Blue fun culminated at the Alumni Mall with the Awards Ceremony and a post-race party. 

The following day, participants were also invited to the Alumni Association’s Barn Bash, the University’s official game-day party, before the Tigers defeated conference rival UAB.

2007 Summer Symposium: Eat, Drink and Be Enlightened
The Young Alumni Committee hosted its inaugural Summer Symposium, titled Eat, Drink & Be Enlightened on Tuesday, June 26, at the Alumni Center. Nearly 100 young alumni and friends enjoyed networking, camaraderie and complimentary beverages and hors d'oeuvres as featured speaker Dr. Don Carson shared about his experiences in over 25 years with the U of M and the importance of having a life-long relationship with the University.
