Homecoming 2009
The University of Memphis Alumni Association’s Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally on Friday, October 9 has been cancelled. Due to impending weather on several forecasts that predict strong winds and heavy storms throughout the day, the Homecoming Committee made this decision for the safety of participants and guests. The Parade floats will be displayed at the Liberty Bowl before the Homecoming game on Saturday, October 10, kickoff at 7 p.m.
All other Homecoming activities will continue as planned, including the Class of 1959 Reunion, Black Alumni Reunion Step Show, After Party and Tailgate, Half Century Club Reception and Cheer Reunion. CANCELLED: Alumni Association's Homecoming Pep Rally Friday, October 9 at 6:30 p.m. Continue the Homecoming celebration at the Association's Pep Rally on Friday, October 9, 6:30 p.m., with special guest Coach Tommy West as well as the Alumni Association's True Blue Tradition Award (awarded annually to those who have made significant contributions to creating and continuing traditions at the U of M) and the Parent of the Year Award (presented to parents of current students through a nomination process). Located at the end of the parade route at the Plaza Fountain near the Administration Building. Food provided from the Thomas Boggs ('72) Family of Huey's Restaurants. Parking is available at the Southern Ave. and Central Ave. parking lots.

Luther C. McClellan Alumni Chapter Homecoming Step Reunion Friday, October 9, 7 p.m. The Luther C. McClellan Chapter will join in the Homecoming 2009 fun with their annual Ol' School Step Show showcasing stepping skills of current students and returning alumni on Friday, October 9 at the Rose Theatre, with proceeds benefiting the LCM Scholarship Fund, followed by an after party.
Half Century Club Reception Friday, October 9, 5:00 at 7:30 p.m. The Half Century Club and Alumni Association will host the Golden Reception for graduates of the class of 1959 and all previous years on Friday, October 9 in the Alumni Center. Appetizers and beverages will be provided by the Alumni Association. All graduates and class friends of fifty or more years are welcome to attend. For reservations call 901/678-ALUM.
Class of 1959 Reunion activities The Alumni Association will honor the Class of 1959 on Friday, October 9 with a variety of activities throughout the day. Class of 1959 members will be invited to Brunch at the home of U of M President Shirley Raines, followed by a guided campus tour. Cheer Reunion All former cheer, mascots, and mic-men are invited back for this year's Homecoming to reconnect with the University and former teammates. The weekend's activities include meeting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday in front of the University's Library for the above Alumni Association Parade and Pep Rally. Saturday events start with a practice at Frankie Conklin's gym at 1 p.m., followed by tailgating at the M Club Tent at 5:30 p.m. and the game at 7 p.m. To learn more about the sideline performance (including attire and other details), tickets and weekend accommodations, visit the Cheer Reunion's Facebook page.
On Campus Fun: Door Decorating Contest Have fun with faculty and staff offices with the annual Homecoming Door Decorating Contest! Make a trip to campus to view these terrific displays. Judging will be on October 6 from 1:30-4:30 p.m. Winners will be notified on the afternoon of Oct. 7.
Sigma Chi Fraternity Friday, October 9, 6:00 p.m. Join the brothers of Sigma Chi at their house on Mynders Ave. for their Homecoming barbeque and entertainment for all Epsilon Kappa alumni.
