Distinguished Faculty Awards

On Friday, April 20, the University of Memphis will honor faculty members’ contributions to research, teaching, and advising during the 25th Annual Faculty Convocation.

The University of Memphis Alumni Association awards $22,000 annually to outstanding University of Memphis teachers, researchers and advisors. The awards and stipends are presented during Faculty Convocation.

The Distinguished Research Award winners are as follows: Elizabeth Edwards, Distinguished Achievement in the Creative Arts, Department of Art; Emily Thrush, Distinguished Research in the Humanities, Department of English; Margaret Vandiver, Distinguished Research in the Social Sciences, Business and Law, Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice; Sanjay Mishra, Distinguished Research in Science, Engineering and Mathematics, Department of Physics; and Joy Clay, Excellence in Engaged Scholarship, Associate Dean of Interdisciplinary Studies.

The 2012 Distinguished Teaching honorees include Sara Bridges (Ph.D. '99), Associate Professor of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research; Thomas Meservy, Assistant Professor of Management Information Systems; Peter Wright, Professor of Management; and Tammy Jones, Instructor of English.

Robert Blanton, Department of Political Science, and Sara Williams, University College, each received the Distinguished Advising Award.
