Alumni Association Spotlight: Lauren Powers (MA '02)
 |
Receiving my masters from the School of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology was
truly a life changing experience. Attending the University of Memphis enabled me to
learn a variety of skills which improved my ability to help those with special needs.
While the graduate school is highly acclaimed, the professors are nationally known,
and the supervisors are among the best in the area, the school also provides a sense
of acceptance and family atmosphere that allows students to learn and grow into their
own professional style.
Through my clinical practicums, I was encouraged to work with all populations. During
my practicums at the Boling Center and St. Jude I found my love for working with children
who have special needs. Currently, I am practicing at Therapy Hut, where I see children
with a variety of disabilities. I will always be grateful for the education I received
while attending the University of Memphis.
