Happy Birthday, U of M!
West Tennessee State Normal School first opened its doors on September 10, 1912, with
200 students and 17 faculty members. The University of Memphis is now home to over
23,000 students and the alma mater of over 120,000 alumni. For a detailed look into
the past 100 years, you can purchase the keepsake coffee table book, Dreamers. Thinkers. Doers. A Centennial History of The University of Memphis, by clicking here.
In honor of this momentous occasion, schools and departments across campus, including
the Alumni Association, are putting together several events to celebrate and to bring
alumni back to campus throughout the year.
The Alumni Association officially kicked off the Centennial Celebration with Tigers Around Town in September. There are four additional anchor events hosted by the Alumni Association
in honor of the Centennial.
Reunion Weekend will take place from Thursday, April 19, through Sunday, April 22. All alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends are invited back to campus to take
part in numerous events across campus throughout the weekend. The Alumni Association
will host a Reunion Dinner on Friday, April 20. More details to follow.
