Alumni Spotlight: Robert Stephens (BSEE '90)
Robert Stephens graduated from The University of Memphis in 1990 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Following graduation, he moved to Houston, TX to begin his career in the oil & gas business with Shell Oil Company. As his career progressed, Robert made a career change to business and technology consulting and is currently a Vice President with Capgemini US LLC. He serves as the North American Head for Oil & Gas and is the Managing Executive for the Greater Houston Area.
Originally from Middleton, TN, Robert has a deep sense of commitment to the University with a keen focus on attracting students from rural communities and from Texas that wouldn’t otherwise consider Memphis as a college destination. He serves as a member of the Houston Golf Association which annually hosts the PGA Tour’s Shell Houston Open. Robert was recognized by the University of Memphis Alumni Association as Outstanding Young Alumni in 2006. He and his wife, Pam, currently reside in Sugar Land, TX.
Robert is a Life Member of the Alumni Association, has created an endowed scholarship in the Herff College of Engineering, has remembered the U of M in his estate plan and is a former president of the Houston Alumni Club.
