Scimitar-Type Sword (19th Century) Ethiopia, Africa Metal blade and animal horn handle Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Gruenberg 1980.1.6

This scimitar may have been used in battle, as there is evidence wear along the blade. The sword, simply decorated, would have been used by a soldier. The curved shape of the blade assisted in striking over or around the shield of an opponent.
