Michelle Foster stands in the midst of her newly installed Artlab installation dealing
with the subject matter of claustrophobia. Opening reception as part of the 30th Annual
Juried Student Exhibition at AMUM on February 1 at 5 PM and will remain up through
the Juried show and Time Pools: Accessing the Aquifer The League of Imaginary Scientists
in collaboration with The University of Memphis.
Claustrophobia Shelter is aimed to impart senses of security and claustrophobia simultaneously.
Much like an umbrella protects from the rain but restricts full access to the world,
the installation is protective and obtrusive. This installation aims to jar notions
of spatial relation, shelter, and security.

Below is what the juror said about her selection for ArtLab:
"One thing I was attracted to by her proposal is that she will fully bring the outdoor
objects into the indoors to create the space. It will be an interesting way to see
how the viewers interact with the space and also give the viewers many different emotions
such as security, fear, hope and so on." -Haejung Lee
