Research Interests

With an interest in the biology of blood sucking arthropods with specific interest in the physiology of tick salivary glands, blood meal digestion, vitellogenin production and vitellogenesis at the cell and molecular level. Recent efforts have focused on elucidating second messenger systems in tick salivary glands and on bioactive compounds in the saliva that have immunosuppressive, anti-inflammatory, and anti-hemostatic effects on the host.
