Emily K. Elderbrock
Graduate Program: Ph.D. Candidate
Major Professor: Dr. Stephan Schoech
Research Interest
Emily studies the Florida Scrub-Jay, a threatened species of bird that resides in Florida. Her research focus is how exposure to corticosterone, a hormone commonly associated with stress, influences nestling begging behavior, sibling interactions, and parental behavior. She's also interested in whether early exposure to corticosterone has long-term effects on the adult physiological and behavioral phenotype. Emily is a graduate of the College of Wooster in Ohio and in addition to the Florida Scrub-Jay, has worked with Eastern Bluebirds, Zebra Finches, and secretive marsh birds.
