About one-third of the University's energy consumption comes from lighting. Remembering to turn off lights when you leave the office for even a short time can have a huge impact on lowering energy consumption and costs. Completely turning off computers/monitors at the end of the workday can also have a large effect on energy consumption.
The U of M Sustainability Program was busy in the Spring 2013 getting Lambuth set
up with their own recycling program after being approach by some very eager and passionate
Lambuth students. Within one month our recycle team took several trips to Lambuth
and set up a full scale recycle program. The Lambuth sustainability leaders were quick
to initiate the new recycle program with a Recycle Kick-Off. We continue to work with
the Lambuth campus in all their recycling needs as they continue to grow and be an
example for the Jackson community.
