Center for Athletic Academic Services
About the Center

CAAS is staffed by the Director, Assistant Director, five Athletic Academic Counselors and an Administrative Associate. CAAS is also assisted by interns, graduate assistants, student workers, mentors and tutors.

Academic support services are provided in a variety of ways, including orientation programs, tutoring, mentoring, academic counseling, study hall, and academic advising. CAAS also has a unique responsibility as it conducts all required NCAA and Conference USA paperwork for academic compliance of prospective and current student-athletes. This includes paperwork for recruiting, certification of eligibility, filing of waivers, and academic rules interpretations.

CAAS moved into the newly renovated Wilder Tower at the beginning of the 2003-2004 academic year. In addition to CAAS, Wilder Tower houses campus-wide student services, including admissions, bursar, financial aid, registrar, student development, and academic advising.

CAAS is housed on the sixth and seventh floors of Wilder Tower and covers an area of 8,000 square feet. The center consists of 31 computer stations, a variety of study areas (including tutor rooms, study carrels, and tables), and the offices of the CAAS staff.

Academic Highlight

56 (School Record) student-athletes received the Conference USA Academic Medal. This award is given for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or above through the fall semester in a conference sponsored sport.
