Academic Awards

Student-athletes are eligible to receive a variety of academic awards while competing as student-athletes at the University of Memphis. The academic awards include, but are not limited to:

CAAS Awards

Tiger 3.0 Club, an award that recognizes Memphis student-athletes who earn a GPA of 3.0 or higher for a particular semester.

Tiger Academic Thirty, an award that honors student-athletes with the best grade-point average on each team (minimum 3.0 GPA) and then the next best group of athletes, totaling 30 student-athletes.

Team GPA Award, an award that honors the male and female team with the best grade-point average for the semester.

CAAS Achievement Award, a yearly award designed to honor two student-athlete who have overcome personal hardship and/or showed marked improvement in terms of their academic performance over the previous academic year.

CAAS Scholar-Athlete of the Month, designed to honor three student-athletes; one football; one male and one female student-athlete for their consistency and academic success during a one-month period.

PAWS Scholar, to qualify you must complete the following requirements each year:

  • Maintain a cumulative 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Participate in at least two personal development events per year
  • Participate in at least two career development events per year
  • Complete a community service hour requirement (average of 30 hours per year)
  • Or, be nominated by your academic advisor & PAWS coordinator

You will submit all evidence of experiences to the PAWS office before the start of finals each fall semester. PAWS Scholars will be recognized during halftime at a home basketball game at the FedEx Forum. Upon completion of your Senior Year, PAWS Senior Scholars will receive a special gift to wear during the graduation ceremony.

American Athletic Conference Awards

(All AAC Academic Awards are recognized during the spring semester.)

All-Academic Football Team: TBA.

All-Academic Team (sports other than football): An award given to top student-athletes in each sport as determined by Conference USA at the time of each sport's conference championship.

American Eagle Outfitters Institutional Scholar-Athlete: An award given to only one Conference USA student-athlete per sport for academic, athletic and service excellence.

American Eagle Outfitters Postgraduate Leadership Award: An award given to only twelve Conference USA athletes per year. The recipient is given a one-time scholarship of $4000.

Basketball-Scholar Athlete: An award given to only one Conference USA basketball student athlete for academic, athletic and service excellence. [Overview]

Football-Scholar Athlete: An award given to only one Conference USA football student-athlete for academic, athletic and service excellence. [Overview]

Scholar-Athlete Sport Excellence Award: An award given to twenty-one student athletes for outstanding athletic, academic and service excellence. [Overview]

Team Academic Excellence Award: TBA.

 

Additional Awards

CoSIDA Academic All-America, an award that nationally recognizes student-athletes for outstanding accomplishments on the field and in the classroom. To be nominated, students must participate in at least 50% of competitions and maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA.
