Fred Quarles joined the University of Memphis staff in June of 2006 to serve as Athletic Academic Counselor for football. He is currently in his sixth year on staff. Prior to joining the University of Memphis staff, Fred was a graduate assistant in the academic service department at Indiana State for two years where he worked with students on academic probation at the University. In addition, he also worked in the academic service department as a student-athlete mentor for two years.

While a student at Indiana State, Fred was a three-time letter winner on the football team. In addition, he was a first-team recipient of the Arthur Ashe Jr. Award.

Fred is originally from Indianapolis, Indiana. He enjoys watching movies, traveling, playing sports, working out, and spending time with family and friends.

Fred’s favorite quote is “Everything in life happens for a reason.”

Academic Highlight

Men's and Women's Tennis were recognized as an ITA All-Academic Team, posting a team GPA of 3.55 and 3.26, respectively, for the 2010-11 academic year (3.20 or higher is required for nomination).
