Academic Highlights

 
  • Jake Elliott and Daniel Montiel, of Football, were both named as First Team Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans. This was Montiel's second consecutive year being recognized.

  • Luis Hanssler was the first Memphis men's track and field student-athlete to be named as a Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American.

  • Jake Elliott, of Football, was named the American Athletic Conference Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

  • Valerie Sanderson, of Women's Soccer, was named to the 2016 NSCAA Senior College Women's Scholar All-America team, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

  • The UM women's teams posted a 3.484 GPA in the Fall of 2016. Women's Soccer posted the highest with a 3.78 team GPA.

  • The UM Men's Golf team posted a 3.62 team GPA.

  • Eight Tigers were honored with the 2015-16 American Athletic Conference Sport Excellence Award: Louis Asser (Men's Tennis), Leighann Cabush (Women's Golf), Carolina Carmichael (Women's Outdoor Track and Field), Jake Elliott (Football), Elysia Masters (Women's Soccer), Stephen Tankersley (Men's Cross Country), Anki Wind (Women's Tennis), Avery Woodson (Men's Basketball)

  • Memphis had it's 12th consecutive semester with a departmental GPA of 3.0 or above during the fall, with a 3.176 (all-time high).

  • 258 Tigers earned a 3.0 GPA or higher in Fall 2016.
