Welcome to the Center for Applied Earth Sciences and Engineering Research (CAESER). This center combines the efforts of two previous centers, the Center for Partnerships in GIS and the Ground Water Institute, creating expanded research opportunities that cross more academic disciplines. The goal of CAESER is "building smarter, stronger communities."
We are remodeling our web site and will unveil it in mid 2016.
One of CAESER's research areas includes water. For over two decades, CAESER has been the authoritative source for research and information about the source of Memphis and the Mid-South area's source of drinking water, the Memphis aquifer system.
Water in aquifers is known as groundwater. Water from this particular system is naturally pure and clean, and it requires little treatment before it's pumped into homes, schools and businesses.
If you'd like to know more about what CAESER is doing when it comes to water research, please contact us. Our faculty and staff members are available to speak year round to groups and schools.
