Building Smarter, Stronger Communities

Welcome to the Center for Applied Earth Science and Engineering Research (CAESER).

CAESER is a new center that combines the efforts of two previous centers, the Center for Partnerships in GIS and the Ground Water Institute.

The goal of CAESER is "building smarter, stronger communities."

We are currently updating our web site and will have more information in the near future.

Public Event

Dr. Dan Larsen from the University of Memphis's Department of Earth Sciences will speak at the new Bass Pro location inside the Memphis Pyramid on Thursday, May 28. His talk is part of a free and public meeting planned by by the City of Memphis Stormwater - Public Works division. The meeting runs from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm.

Dr. Larsen's talk will focus on runoff from urban streams, but also discuss how that differs from agricultural runoff. He will blend those topics to briefly discuss some of the water quality problems in the Mississippi River, mainly those investigated by CAESER through a doctoral graduate student's work.
