Description: Simulation modeling of complex, dynamic and stochastic transportation systems, model building, input and output statistical data analysis, use of simulation for design, evaluation, and improvement of these systems, introduction to simulation software, review of case studies. Three lecture hours a week.

Objectives: This course provides an introduction to computer simulation of discrete event dynamic systems with a focus in the field of transportation, logistics and supply chain management. A variety of theoretical and numerical tools, necessary to build simulation models of complex systems and their behavior will be introduced. ARENA will be used as the main simulation platform although additional software will be discussed.
