Dean's Evaluation of Department Chairs and Program Directors Dean's Evaluation of Department Chairs and Program Directors

Description II

The Dean will perform an annual evaluation and hold a planning session with each Chair and/or Director within the College at a confidential meeting during the months of March and April.

The Dean will subsequently prepare a written report and provide the Chair/Director an opportunity to append written comments to the Dean's report. The report then will be filed in the office of the Dean with copies to the Provost and the Chair/Director. The evaluation will be based upon:

  • An annual written departmental assessment of the Chair/Director as measured against the five (5) indicators of performance. Using each department's specific procedures, written individual faculty evaluations of the Chair's/Director's performance will be compiled into a single assessment report.

The Chair/Director will be provided an opportunity to append written comments pertaining to the report's content, and subsequently the entire report will be forwarded to the Dean. The individual assessments will be destroyed by the report's author.

  • The Dean's review of the Chair's/Director's performance during the review period, including areas of strength, areas needing attention, accomplishments, plans and expectations, and specific goals and objectives for the following academic year.
  • Other information which may be provided to the Dean or which he/she may have available.
