The College's Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology (IEAA) was founded in 1984, and is one of the University's five Tennessee Centers
of Excellence. An element of the Department of Art, the Institute is dedicated to the study of the
art and culture of ancient Egypt through teaching, research, exhibition, and community
education. IEAA supports an epigraphic survey in the Great Hypostyle Hall of Karnak
Temple in Luxor, Egypt, and partners with the Italian Archaeological Mission at the
tomb of Harwa at Thebes.
Our Center for Multimedia Arts (CMA), is a partner in the FedEx Institute of Technology and part of the Department

stages of new research, education, and business initiatives. The Center trains students
in the use of product development, maintains a study-abroad exchange in digital media,
and engages graduate assistants, undergraduate interns, and Honors College students
in research activities.
The Center for Sustainable Design (CSD), is part of the Department of Architecture. The Center strives for leadership
in a new era of building and designing in Memphis, and to develop principles of green
architecture that supports the environmental, economic and social conditions of the
