Each year, the University of Memphis recognizes outstanding faculty at its annual Faculty Convocation. During the Convocation, hundreds of years of academic tradition merge to recognize excellence in teaching, advising, research, and service.
The most prestigious honor given to a faculty member is the Willard R. Sparks Eminent Faculty Award, which is presented by the University's Board of Visitors.
However, we encourage our faculty to make nominations and apply for all of the available awards. We also encourage participation in the Annual Spring Convocation so we can honor and salute the achievements of our fellow faculty members.
Additionally, the College of Communication and Fine Arts offers several awards, such as the Benjamin Rawlins, Jr. Meritorious Faculty Award, the Dean's Outstanding Research and Creative Achievement Awards, the Annual Academic Advising Award, as well as the Anne Dunn Award for clerical and professional employees.
