Environmental engineers are particularly concerned with protecting people from poor
air and water quality, excessive noise and vibrations, harmful radiation, hazardous
waste, and solid waste management problems. They are concerned with the proper disposal
of all wastes into the environment and in minimizing damaging effects of human activities.
The undergraduate civil engineer may take courses relating specifically to air, water
and solid pollution control, water supply, disease and vector control, water resource
development planning, hydraulics and hydrology.
