Dr. Heather Chambliss, FACSM is a faculty
member in Health Promotion in the department of Health and Sport Sciences at
The University of Memphis. Heather has a
MA in Counseling from Louisiana Tech University
and a PhD in Exercise Science from the University of Georgia.
Upon completing her degree, she worked as a post-doctoral fellow, health
educator, and research scientist at The Cooper Institute, an internationally
recognized preventive medicine organization in Dallas, Texas. Heather is a Fellow of the American College
of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and serves on the Executive Committee for the
Exercise Is MedicineTM initiative.
Heather has presented at numerous national
conferences on topics of physical activity promotion, weight management, and
health behavior change. She has worked extensively in health coaching, curricula
development and program design and has been quoted for popular media including Fitness Magazine and Wall Street Journal. Heather is a specialty medical reviewer for Healthwise, Inc, which provides content
for a variety of online and print health resources. Heather and her husband Donnie
live in Southaven, MS with their daughters, Karis
and Clare. Heather volunteers locally
on the DeSoto County Community Health Council, Mississippi Regional Health
Council, and Get A Life! Childhood
Obesity Prevention Initiative.
