Child Research Group

Our research interests and activities center on early childhood through elementary school and the early phases of human development.  Specifically, we explore research and practices related to the cognitive, social, and emotional development of children and the implications for teaching, learning, and development.  We are eclectic in relationship to the lens and theoretical framework that we investigate and study.  Additionally, our emphasis encompasses formal and informal contexts, including parent and family involvement and engagement as well as cultural issues, subject-domain perspectives, and methods and measurement.

The format of our activities can be characterized in three distinct levels:

  • Research
    • Individual research development reading, presentations, and critiques
  • Speaking
    • Speaking articulately about our research
    • Group practice and discussion
  • Writing
    • Individual writing
    • Group critique
    • Revising
