About Our Courses

The Educational Psychology and Research (EDPR) Program offers most of its graduate level courses for M.S. and Ph.D. students together. (For online students, only masters-level students are in the course.) Ph.D. students in different concentrations will build a 54-credit-hour program of studies in consultation with their advisors in the first semester.  M.S. students will complete 36 credit-hours of coursework in the major or specialty area. All of our graduate-level courses are taught by instructors with terminal degrees.

All graduate students are expected to to become familiar with these areas:

Educational Psychology Concentration

  • Human development
  • Learning and cognition; motivation
  • Quantitative research methods
  • Qualitative research methods

Educational Research Concentration

  • Quantitative Approach:Research design, sampling and data collection, introductory and advanced statistical analysis, and educational measurement. 
  • Qualitative Approach: Contemporary theories, strategies, research design, data collection and analysis.
  • Human development
  • Learning and cognition; motivation

The EDPR program utilizes the style guide published by the American Psychological Association (APA). This style guide is currently in the 6th edition and can be purchased from several resources.
