The Center for Healthcare and Technology is led by an impressive array of business
and research professionals including:
Paul Cornell, PhD Director, Center for Healthcare and Technology
A former leader of research and product development at Vecta, Steelcase and Burroughs,
Cornell brings a wealth of applied research and business experience to the CHT team.
As "player/coach" at the Center, he is responsible for identifying opportunities,
developing work plans, conducting research and managing the budget. He has extensive
experience in ergonomics, group performance, the impact of technology, learning environments
and design.
He received his undergraduate degree from Hope College and obtained his Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational
Psychology at Penn State. His reading interests include history, chaos theory, technology,
current events and strategy. He and his wife Deb have three college-aged children.

Sidney D'Mello
Graduate Assistant, Computer Science
Sidney D'Mello is a researcher at the Institute for Intelligent Systems at the University
of Memphis. His has worked on several research projects in affective computing, intelligent
tutoring, natural language understanding, verbal command and control, RFID technology,
and human like learning in machines. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from
Christian Brothers University and a MS in Mathematical Sciences from the University
of Memphis. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science at the University of
Memphis.
