New HSK Test at CIUM
The Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis (CIUM) is approved by Hanban to be one of the official test centers of HSK. Two tests will be offered this semester. The first test will be held on November 8th, 2009. The deadline to apply is October 30th, 2009. The second test will be held on December 13th, 2009. The deadline to apply is November 30th, 2009.
Free mock test training class will be offered on 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on November 30th and December 1st in the Confucius Institute on the 11th Floor of Wilder Tower, Memphis, TN, 38152.
In order to better satisfy the demand for adequate Chinese language tests in overseas countries, HANBAN has applied the latest research methodology in foreign-language testing to develop a new HSK test. The test is designed for Chinese language learners who are based overseas.
Test Structure
The new HSK is a standardized international Chinese proficiency test, taking non-native speakers as its object, and directed at examining students’ capability in applying Chinese language in their studies, personal life and work. The new type of examination consists of two independent parts; a written test and an oral test.

HSK- Level 6 (starting from Mar. 2010)
HSK- Level 5 (starting from Mar. 2010)
HSK- Level 4 (starting from Mar. 2010)
HSK- Level 3 (starting from Mar. 2010)
HSK- Level 2 (starting at 9:30AM Nov. 8, 2009)
HSK- Level 1 (starting at 9:30AM Nov. 8, 2009)
Oral Test
HSK Advanced (starting from Mar. 2010)
HSK Intermediate (starting from Mar. 2010)
HSK Elementary (starting from Mar. 2010)
II Test Fees
Fees are set differently for the HSK Level 1 to HSK Level 6. Currently the candidates participating in the tests on November 8, 2009 and December 13, 2009 will be charged as follows:
HSK Level 1: $20
HSK Level 2: $35
HSK Level 3: (TBD)

VI Test Application
Candidates are required to fill in a HSK Registration Form and submit the form to CIUM before October 28 for the test on November 8, 2009 and November 30 for the test on December 13, 2009. With the HSK Registration Form, a copy of personal ID (e.g. passport, driving license), 2 one-inch photos (standardized size 40mmx30mm) and appropriate amount of fee are also needed for finalization of the participation in HSK tests.
