Confucius Institute Scholarship 2009“Confucius Institute Scholarship” is established by Confucius Institute Headquarter (Hanban), with a goal of encouraging students and teachers worldwide, who are studying and/or teaching Chinese as a second language, to study Chinese language and culture in China. Hanban will provide tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses, insurance, etc. Please find the attached documents for details. Hubei University is the partner university of University of Memphis to co-establish Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis (CIUM). It is one of the appointed host universities for international students and one of the universities to receive international students granted CI Scholarship. Please check Hanban website for recruitment information: http://www.hanban.edu.cn/content.php?id=4685. EligibilityApplicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health. Categories and Specific Criteria1. Scholarships for Short-term StudyDuration for these scholarships is generally divided into 4 weeks, 1 semester and 1 academic year. Applicants are required to have a basic knowledge Chinese language level, and under the age of 55. 2. Scholarships for DegreesBachelor’s Degree Scholarship: 4-5 academic yearsApplicants are required to have a diploma comparable to a Chinese high school certificate, pass the Chinese university admission examination or be admitted by recommendation and without taking an admission exam, and under the age of 35. Master’s Degree Scholarship: 2-3 academic yearsApplicants are required to have a bachelor degree or a diploma comparable to a bachelor degree, and under the age of 45. Doctorate Degree Scholarship: 3-4 academic yearsApplicants are required to have a master’s degree or a diploma comparable to a master degree, and under the age of 45. Deadline for application through CIUMThe applicants should prepare all the required documents attached and send them to Hubei University within June 24. Hubei University will send the materials to Hanban for final approval.
