Scholarship for Oversea Chinese Teachers

“Scholarship for Oversea Chinese Teachers” initiated and funded by Confucius Institute Headquarters.

A training program of non-Chinese citizens to meet the needs of Chinese language teaching in the United States.

Who are eligible to apply?

Students who are majoring in Chinese language teaching in the universities for their Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctor’s degree, and  willing to undertake Chinese language teaching after graduation.

Teachers who are involved in Chinese language teaching in the institutions of the States.

Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.

Funding of Scholarship

Applicants are recommended by the Confucius Institutes (e.g. Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis) and submitted to Confucius Institute Headquarters for approval. After approval, the scholarships will be granted through the CIUM to the applicants.

Amount of Scholarship

Scholarships are awarded for full time students at the Chinese universities for one year, covering half or full tuition fees.

How to apply?

1)      The applicants of the University of Memphis can directly apply to Confucius Institute Headquarters through Confucius Institute at the University of Memphis.

2)      The applicants can also apply through the Confucius Institute in the region or the Education (or Culture) Section of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

3)      The applicants are expected to sign an agreement with the university where they are studying or working, detailing their commitment and devotion to Chinese language teaching for agreed duration of time after graduation.

4)      Application form for the Scholarship for Oversea Chinese Teachers can be accessed at the website: www.hanban.org/btjs.php . The e-form needs to be filled out with the applicant’s signature before Sep. 20 and sent to CIUM.
