CN is one of the sponsors of our fall conference.  The annual conference takes a close look at current issues affecting the safe and efficient movement of goods.  Previous conferences looked at the role of Memphis in the global supply chain and recovery after a man-made or natural disaster.  The 2009 conference is going to look into the best practices of public/private partnerships.  The date has a tentative date of November 12^th.

In the future CN and the University of Memphis will be hosting a workshop for first responders in West Tennessee, North Mississippi and Eastern Arkansas.  The day long workshop will focus on how to react to a derailment.  It will include a half day of classroom training taught by experts in the rail industry, followed by an afternoon of field exercises and hands-on training with rail motive power and rolling stock. Look for this workshop in the spring of 2010.

CN has also developed a more detailed and comprehensive training program that will be offered at the University of Memphis.  This would be a weeklong training session that will cover in greater detail how to handle a rail accident.
