Nathan Atkinson is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication at Georgia
State University. Atkinson specializes in rhetorical studies, with particular attention to the relationship
between visuality and public culture. He is currently working on a book examining
how the military used newsreels depicting the first, atomic tests at Bikini Atoll
to make a case for representation on what would become the Atomic Energy Commission.
Atkinson's research essays and reviews have so far appeared in the Rhetoric Society Quarterly, Rhetoric Review, and Rhetoric & Public Affairs. He also has a chapter in the forthcoming collection, "Comics and the Cold War: 1946-1962."
