Cindy Koenig Richards is an assistant professor of Rhetoric & Media Studies at Willamette University and
a faculty fellow at the Center for Religion, Law and Democracy. Her research and teaching
examine political rhetoric, with a focus on the performance of citizenship and technologies
of dissent. Dr. Richards received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University in 2008,
and she is a recipient of the Most Outstanding Dissertation in Political Communication
Award and the James L. Golden Award from the National Communication Association. Her
work has appeared in the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Western Journal of Communication, Rhetoric and Public Affairs, and Southern Communication Journal.
