Communications, Public Relations and Marketing welcome

The Division of Communications, Public Relations and Marketing comprises four areas:

  • Marketing Services
  • Communications Services
  • Creative Services
  • Special Events

Marketing Services promotes the public's general knowledge and understanding of the University and publicizes activities taking place at or under the auspices of the U of M.

Communications Services disseminates U of M news. The office generates news releases, responds to inquiries from the media and the general public, oversees the Experts List and Speakers Bureau, and takes other action to maintain a constant flow of news about and from the University to the various audiences. Communications Services also staffs the Visitor Information Center.

Creative Services produces the University of Memphis Magazine, Update and This Week. It also supplies, on a limited basis, graphic design and photography services for recruitment publications.

Special Events plans many major university functions, including faculty convocation and events hosted by the president.

Tiger Pride  Tiger Pride

Dr. Carol Crown, professor of art history at the U of M, contributed the principal essay on the Mullis Collection in the book Amazing Grace: Self-Taught Artists from the Mullis Collection. The book won a bronze medal at the 2008 Independent Publisher Book Awards and received the prize in the fine arts category at the 12th annual IPPY Awards in Los Angeles on May 30.
