The Division of Communications, Public Relations and Marketing comprises four areas:
- Marketing Services
- Communications Services
- Creative Services
- Special Events
Marketing Services promotes the public's general knowledge and understanding of the University and publicizes
activities taking place at or under the auspices of the U of M.
Communications Services disseminates U of M news. The office generates news releases, responds to inquiries
from the media and the general public, oversees the Experts List and Speakers Bureau and takes other actions to maintain a continual flow of news about and from the University
to its audiences.
Creative Services produces the University of Memphis Magazine, Update and This Week. It also provides graphic design and photography services for
projects handled by Marketing Services, Communications Services or Special Events.
Special Events plans many major university functions, including faculty convocation and events hosted
by the president.

Tiger Pride
The Department of Mathematical Sciences can claim five Erdos level 1 mathematicians: Ralph
Faudree, Cecil Rousseau, Richard Schelp, Bela Bollobas and Jeno Lehel. An Erdos number represents the collaborative distance between an individual and Paul Erdos, an influential and itinerant Hungarian mathematician who was a prolific writer of mathematical papers. An Erdos number of 1 reflects a direct collaboration with the late mathematician, who was an adjunct professor at the U of M. Faudree, Rousseau and Schelp are among Erdos' five most frequent collaborators.
