University Neighborhoods

The University of Memphis is part of several established and historic neighborhoods. Each neighborhood has its own unique character and history that enrich and enhance the fabric of life in the Bluff City.

Programs and Partnerships

The University strives to be a good neighbor and frequent collaborator with its closest neighbors. Several partnerships have been established over the years to tackle issues that affect the University and/or the nearby communities that make up the area known in part as the University District.

University District Initiative (UDI)

UDI is a partnership between the university, neighborhood groups, and public and private entities created to support economic and social development in the area known as the University District.

University Neighborhood Development Corporation (UNDC)

The UNDC is a private, nonprofit, neighborhood-based organization, distinct from the University of Memphis, focusing on a community and economic development strategy in the area surrounding the University of Memphis (University District).
