Prospects Important Information

NCAA Eligibility Center

    WHO MUST REGISTER...
     All high school student athletes who want to compete in athletics at the                   college level; all junior college student athletes who are entering a Division I          or II institution for the first time on or after August 2007.

    WHAT IT IS...
    The center maintains and processes all of the initial-eligibility certifications, as        well as, amateurism certifications - both of which are necessary if a student            wants to compete in intercollegiate athletics.   

    WHEN TO REGISTER...
    It is recommended that high school students register during the summer before      their senior year.  High school students must be registered with the EC prior to       making an official visit to any NCAA institution and prior to signing a National          Letter of Intent.  Transfer students must register prior to signing a National               Letter of Intent.

    HOW IT WORKS...
    You must register online and pay the registration fee.  High school students             must submit high school transcripts, proof of graduation, ACT or SAT test                scores, and complete the amateurism questions; transfer students must                  complete the amateurism questions.

GENERAL INITIAL / TRANSFER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Note:   These rules must be met IN ADDITION TO fulfilling any applicable           Conference USA rules regarding initial / transfer eligibility.

    Students Graduating from High School / Prep School (see NCAA Bylaw             14.3.1)
       - To be eligible for athletics aid, practice and competition:

• Certified Qualifier

• Final Certified Amateur

• Enrolled full-time at member institution

    Two-Year Transfer Student (Final Qualifier) (see NCAA Bylaw 14.5.4.1)
       - To be eligible for athletics aid, practice and competition must have:

• Spent one full-time semester at two-year school

• 2.0 GPA

• 12 hrs transferable credit for each full-time term of attendance

• Meet any additional, applicable progress-toward-degree requirements

    Two-Year Transfer Student (Final Non-Qualifier) (see NCAA Bylaw 14.5.4.2)
      –To be eligible for athletics aid, practice, and competition must have:

• Graduated from two-year school

• 48 hrs transferable credit

• Spent three full-time semesters at two-year school

• 2.0 GPA

• Meet any additional, applicable progress-toward-degree requirements

    Four-Year Transfer Student (see NCAA Bylaws 14.4.3.1; 14.4.3.2; 14.4.3.3;         14.5.5; 14.5.5.4)
       –To be eligible for athletics aid, practice, and competition must have:

• Must serve a year in residence unless an exception to residency requirement is met.

• To receive athletics aid - student must have been academically eligible to compete had the student remained at the previous institution.

• Must meet applicable credit-hour, progress-toward-degree, and GPA requirements depending on number of full-time terms of attendance.

    4-2-4 Transfer Student (see NCAA Bylaw 14.5.6)
       –To be eligible for athletics aid, practice and competition must have served a         year in residence unless the following conditions are met:

• Complete an average of 12 hours of transferable credit for each  full-time term of attendance at the 2-YR school AND minimum, cumulative 2.0 GPA.

• One calendar year has to have elapsed since student’s departure from the 4-YR school.

• Student must graduate from the 2-YR school.
