How we help
Many students, at times, experience uncertainty or confusion about themselves or their life situations. Some common concerns may be related to relationship problems, adjustment to college, family issues, academic concerns, childhood abuse, or sexual assault. There is no problem too small or too big to bring to counseling. We have a diverse staff of psychologists, counselors and trainees. We create an atmosphere that is welcoming and multi-culturally sensitive for all students. We are committed to the total development of University of Memphis students by reducing psychological problems and distress and by enhancing quality of life and personal well-being.
Counseling Center Services
We offer free counseling services to students enrolled for at least six credit hours in the current spring or fall semester. Students need to be enrolled for one credit hour in the summer for services. Students can walk in Monday–Friday between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Students are eligible to receive 12 sessions per academic year. During this first brief visit to the Center, we'll create a file for you, assign a counselor to your care, and schedule your first appointment with your counselor. Typically, students return for a meeting with their assigned counselor within a week. After your initial meeting, you can schedule appointments directly with your counselor.
