Swim Lessons/Classes

Our swim classes offer a supportive, nurturing, and safe environment in which participants ages six months to adult can learn to swim or improve their existing skills. Group swim lessons are based on availability. Please come to entry desk at Recreation Center to register for group swim lessons.

Spring swim lessons begin March 4

Lessons will be held on Saturdays in March and April at the following times:

Parent/Child: 9:30-10 a.m.

Preschool: 10:15-10:45 a.m.

Youth Beginners I: 11-11:40 a.m.

Youth Beginners II: 11-11:40 a.m.

Youth Intermediate: 12-12:40 p.m.

Adults and Teens: 12-12:40 p.m.

Class Descriptions

Parent/Child (six months to three years old): Ages 6 months-3 years. 30-minute lessons
This class teaches water safety and water adaptation, through songs and games for children and their parents. Parents will become confident handling their babies in the water while teaching water movement skills. 10 pairs per instructor

Preschool (four-five years old): Ages 4-5 years. 30-minute lessons
This class is divided into two levels. No more than six participants per instructor
o Beginners- no previous water experience
o Beginners/intermediate- comfortable in water, puts face in water and blows bubbles, can swim minimum of five feet with or without belt or assistance.

Youth Beginners I (six to 12 years old): Eight lessons, 40 minutes per lesson. No previous water experience. This level teaches the fundamentals of swimming.

Youth Beginners II (six to 12 years old): Eight lessons, 40 minutes per lesson. Basic water skills mastered; can float on front and back, swim 15 feet without assistance, glide and kick.

Youth Intermediate (six to 12 years old): Eight lessons, 40 minutes per lesson. Swims easily on stomach in deep water, breathes side to side, and can swim front and back crawl

Adult and Teens (13 and up):  Eight lessons, 40 minutes per lesson. This class is designed to teach beginner teens/adults the fundamentals of swimming, as well as work with those who want to develop their skills. 

Cost: Students, $40; Members, $60; Non-Members, $80

Private Lessons

Cost: Students, $80, Members, $100, Non-Members, $120

At CRIS, we are passionate about teaching kids and adults to be strong swimmers. Our lessons are for swimmers from age four to adult and include a private one-on-one session with your very own instructor for extreme beginners or those who want to condition through swimming.
